Amil Bera is the Founder of Advaya, which means “without a second; unique” in Sanskrit. Amil founded Advaya in 2010 after growing frustrated with Wall Street culture. Advaya’s independent thinking and research-driven approach means an idiosyncratic investment portfolio and customized advice for our clients.
Prior to Advaya, Amil served as Vice President/Senior Investment Research Analyst for Wells Fargo in San Francisco; as Relative Value Strategies Analyst for SAIL Advisors, a Hong Kong-based Fund of Hedge Funds; as the sole Investment Analyst for a family office invested in hedge funds, private equity, direct equities, derivatives, and real estate; as Associate in Equities Trading for Banc of America Securities in New York; as an Analyst for Cornerstone Research in New York; as a consultant to the International Monetary Fund in Mauritius; and as an Economics Intern for the U.S. Department of State in New Delhi.
Amil holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy with High Honors and the Departmental Citation. He also completed an Executive Education Certificate in Valuation at NYU Stern School of Business. Amil is an Associate Board Member of the Council for Economic Education.
Amil’s varied global experiences have shaped Advaya’s approach to investing and serving clients. He has been excited about business, the stock market, and financial independence since grade school. Curiosity about the planet and different cultures has inspired Amil to explore over eighty countries. His commitment to personal growth has motivated him to regularly practice yoga and pursue teaching certifications. Amil’s love of learning has led him to research new ideas and think about different approaches to investing and advising.
